- Conduct audits of medical coding and documentation to ensure compliance with coding guidelines, regulations, and standards.
- Analyze coding data and identify trends and potential areas of risk or non-compliance.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans to address any identified compliance issues.
- Collaborate with coding and billing teams to provide education and training on coding compliance and documentation requirements.
- Stay up-to-date on coding regulations and guidelines, and communicate any changes or updates to the coding team.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on coding compliance for the organization.
- Monitor and report on the organization's compliance with coding regulations and standards.
- Participate in coding audits conducted by external entities, such as government agencies or third-party payers.
- Conduct investigations into potential coding fraud or abuse and report findings to appropriate parties.
- Provide guidance and support to coding and documentation improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain coding compliance policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as legal, finance, and quality, to ensure a comprehensive approach to coding compliance.
Extensive Knowledge Of Coding Guidelines: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Various Coding Guidelines Such As Icd-10, Cpt, And Hcpcs, And Be Able To Apply Them Accurately In Coding Audits.
Coding Certification: A Senior Coding Compliance Auditor Should Hold A Coding Certification Such As Ccs, Cpc, Or Crc To Demonstrate Their Expertise In The Field. This Certification Should Be Current And Maintained Throughout Their Employment.
Experience In Auditing: The Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Coding Audits, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting. They Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Conducting Thorough And Accurate Audits And Making Recommendations For Improvement.
Knowledge Of Compliance Regulations: Catholic Health Initiatives Is Committed To Upholding Compliance With All Relevant Regulations And Laws. The Senior Coding Compliance Auditor Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Hipaa, Medicare, And Other Regulatory Requirements To Ensure Coding Practices Are In Line With These Regulations.
Strong Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Senior Member Of The Coding Compliance Team, The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills. They Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate Audit Findings And Provide Guidance To Coding Staff And Other Stakeholders To Improve Compliance.
