- Perform blood draws and collect blood samples from patients in a safe and efficient manner.
- Verify patient information and accurately label and organize blood samples.
- Follow proper procedures for specimen handling and transportation to ensure accurate and timely results.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients and medical staff to ensure a positive and comfortable experience for patients during blood draws.
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to ensure an adequate supply of materials for blood collection.
- Update and maintain patient records and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Attend and participate in continuing education and training programs to stay updated on industry developments and new techniques.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care.
- Display a caring and compassionate attitude towards patients and their families, representing the values and mission of Catholic Health Initiatives.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or concerns related to blood collection and processing.

- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by superiors.
Completion Of An Accredited Phlebotomy Training Program: Candidates For A Phlebotomist Job At Catholic Health Initiatives Must Have Completed An Accredited Phlebotomy Training Program, Which Typically Includes Coursework In Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Terminology, And Phlebotomy Techniques.
Certification In Phlebotomy: Catholic Health Initiatives May Require Candidates To Hold A Certification In Phlebotomy, Such As The Certified Phlebotomy Technician (Cpt) Or The Registered Phlebotomy Technician (Rpt) Certification.
Experience With Various Blood Collection Methods: A Successful Candidate Should Have Experience With A Variety Of Blood Collection Methods, Including Venipuncture, Fingersticks, And Heel Sticks. They Should Also Be Skilled In Using Different Types Of Blood Collection Equipment, Such As Vacutainer Tubes And Butterfly Needles.
Knowledge Of Safety And Infection Control Protocols: As A Healthcare Organization, Catholic Health Initiatives Places A High Priority On Safety And Infection Control. Phlebotomists Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of These Protocols And Be Able To Adhere To Them In All Aspects Of Their Work.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Phlebotomists Interact With Patients On A Daily Basis, And Therefore Must Have Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills. They Should Be Able To Explain Procedures To Patients, Address Any Concerns Or Questions, And Provide Clear Instructions For Post-Procedure Care. Additionally, They Must Be Able To Work Well With Other Healthcare Professionals And Contribute To A Positive And Collaborative Team Environment.
