- Safely and efficiently transport patients to and from various areas within the healthcare facility.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while transporting patients, including proper use of equipment and following infection control guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of patient transport activities and communicate any changes or concerns to the appropriate staff members.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and staff members, ensuring a positive experience for all.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure timely and efficient patient transportation, including coordinating with nursing staff for patient needs.
- Assist patients with mobility needs, including using wheelchairs, stretchers, and other equipment as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including keeping transport equipment properly stocked and sanitized.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and healthcare staff to ensure a smooth and comfortable transportation experience.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and compassion towards patients, recognizing their individual needs and providing appropriate support and assistance.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Comply with all organizational policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by demonstrating teamwork, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
- Continuously strive to improve patient satisfaction and overall patient experience through efficient and compassionate transportation services.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Ged Is Typically Required For A Patient Transporter Position At Catholic Health Initiatives. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Can Effectively Communicate With Patients And Medical Staff.
Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: As A Patient Transporter, You Will Be Responsible For Transporting Patients To And From Various Locations Within The Hospital. Having A Current Bls Certification Ensures That You Are Trained In Basic Life-Saving Techniques, Such As Cpr, In Case Of An Emergency.
Prior Experience In Healthcare Or Customer Service: While Not Always Required, Having Prior Experience In Either Healthcare Or Customer Service Can Be Beneficial For A Patient Transporter Position. This Experience Demonstrates An Understanding Of Patient Care And The Ability To Interact With Patients In A Professional And Compassionate Manner.
Physical Ability To Lift And Move Patients: Patient Transporters Are Responsible For Moving Patients From One Location To Another, Which May Require Lifting And Transferring Patients Of Various Sizes And Mobility Levels. Therefore, Physical Strength And The Ability To Lift And Move Patients Safely Is An Important Qualification For This Job.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Patient Transporter, You Will Be Interacting With Patients, Their Families, And Medical Staff On A Daily Basis.
