- Perform laboratory tasks: Conduct various laboratory tests, procedures, and experiments as directed by the lab supervisor.
- Maintain lab equipment: Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of lab equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Prepare samples: Receive, label, and prepare patient samples for testing according to established protocols.
- Record and analyze data: Accurately document test results and maintain detailed records of all lab procedures and findings.
- Follow safety protocols: Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe working environment and prevent contamination.
- Collaborate with team members: Work closely with lab technicians, scientists, and other team members to ensure timely completion of tasks and accurate results.
- Quality control: Perform regular quality control checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Troubleshoot issues: Identify and troubleshoot any technical issues or discrepancies in test results, and report them to the lab supervisor.
- Assist with inventory management: Monitor and maintain laboratory supplies and reagents, and place orders as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness: Keep the laboratory clean and organized to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Train new employees: Assist in training and mentoring new lab assistants and ensure they adhere to all protocols and procedures.

- Adhere to regulations: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and accreditation standards, such as CLIA and OSHA.
Bachelor's Degree In A Science-Related Field: A Lab Assistant At Catholic Health Initiatives Should Have A Strong Foundation In Scientific Principles And Methods. A Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Subject Such As Biology, Chemistry, Or Medical Technology Would Be Necessary To Understand And Perform Laboratory Tasks Effectively.
Previous Laboratory Experience: Candidates Should Have Prior Experience Working In A Laboratory Setting. This Could Include Internships, Research Projects, Or Previous Employment As A Lab Assistant. This Experience Would Demonstrate Knowledge Of Laboratory Techniques, Safety Protocols, And Equipment Operation.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures And Regulations: Lab Assistants At Catholic Health Initiatives Should Be Familiar With Standard Laboratory Procedures And Regulations, Such As Clia And Osha Guidelines. They Should Also Have A Good Understanding Of Quality Control Measures And Be Able To Follow Standard Operating Procedures Accurately.
