Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Histotechnician to join our team. As a Histotechnician, you will play a vital role in our laboratory operations by preparing tissue samples for analysis and diagnosis.   1. Prepare tissue samples for examination and analysis.
  2. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  3. Perform routine and specialized staining techniques on tissue samples.
  4. Embed, section, and mount tissue specimens on slides.
  5. Ensure proper labeling and tracking of all specimens.
  6. Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory workspaces.
  7. Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
  8. Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely results.
  9. Troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during testing.
  10. Keep accurate records of all procedures performed.
  11. Continuously monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.
  12. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and participate in laboratory inspections.
  13. Keep up-to-date with new techniques and procedures in the field of histology.
  14. Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families.
  15. Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Catholic Health Initiatives.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Histotechnology Or A Related Field: This Qualification Demonstrates A Thorough Understanding Of Histological Techniques And Laboratory Procedures.

  • Certification As A Histotechnician (Ht) Or Histotechnologist (Htl): This Certification From The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Indicates A High Level Of Competency And Knowledge In The Field Of Histology.

  • Experience In A Clinical Laboratory Setting: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory, Preferably In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Laboratory Safety Regulations And Best Practices: Histotechnicians Must Be Familiar With Safety Protocols And Procedures To Ensure The Proper Handling And Disposal Of Hazardous Materials.

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Organizational Skills: Histology Involves Working With Small Tissue Samples And Delicate Instruments, So It Is Crucial For A Histotechnician To Have Excellent Attention To Detail And Organization Skills To Produce Accurate And Reliable Results.
