- Perform various histology procedures, including embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting tissue specimens.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and precision in all procedures.
- Prepare and label reagents and solutions according to established protocols.
- Perform quality control checks on equipment and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all procedures and results.
- Adhere to safety protocols and standard operating procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other medical professionals to ensure timely and accurate diagnosis of patient specimens.
- Participate in continuing education and training programs to stay updated on new techniques and procedures.
- Maintain inventory levels of supplies and reagents and place orders as needed.
- Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials and adhere to biohazard waste disposal protocols.
- Train and supervise new Histotechnicians and laboratory assistants.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Uphold the values and mission of CHI by delivering compassionate and high-quality care to all patients.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist with developing and implementing new procedures and protocols.
Completion Of An Accredited Histotechnician Program: Candidates Must Have Successfully Completed An Accredited Histology Technician Program, Such As Those Offered By The National Society For Histotechnology Or The American Society For Clinical Pathology.
Certification As A Histotechnician: Catholic Health Initiatives May Require Candidates To Possess A Valid Certification As A Histotechnician From The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Society For Histotechnology (Nsh).
Knowledge Of Histology Laboratory Techniques And Procedures: Candidates Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Histology Laboratory Procedures, Including Embedding, Sectioning, Staining, And Tissue Processing.
Familiarity With Laboratory Equipment: Candidates Should Have Experience Working With Various Histology Laboratory Equipment, Including Microtomes, Tissue Processors, And Staining Machines.
