Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In A Relevant Field: A Director, Applied Research At Capital One Should Possess A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In A Field Such As Computer Science, Data Science, Or Statistics. A Phd Is Preferred.

  • Extensive Research Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 8-10 Years Of Hands-On Experience In Applied Research, Preferably In The Financial Services Industry. This Includes Experience In Developing And Implementing Complex Research Projects, As Well As Publishing And Presenting Research Findings.

  • Strong Analytical And Technical Skills: The Director, Applied Research Should Have A Strong Foundation In Both Quantitative And Qualitative Research Methodologies. They Should Also Possess Advanced Skills In Statistical Analysis And Data Mining, As Well As Experience Working With Various Programming Languages And Tools Such As R, Python, And Sql.

  • Leadership And Management Experience: This Role Requires Strong Leadership And Management Skills To Effectively Oversee A Team Of Researchers And Guide Their Work Towards Achieving Business Objectives. The Candidate Should Have Experience Managing And Mentoring A Team, As Well As Collaborating With Cross-Functional Teams.

  • Business Acumen: The Director, Applied Research Should Have A Good Understanding Of The Financial Services Industry And Be Able To Apply Research Findings To Drive Business Decisions. They Should Also Possess Strong Communication And Presentation Skills To Effectively Communicate Complex Research Findings To Non-Technical Stakeholders.
