As the Program Manager, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the accessibility of our digital platforms and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.   1. Develop and implement strategies for promoting inclusivity and equal access to digital information at Caltech.
  2. Ensure compliance with web accessibility standards and guidelines, including WCAG 2.0 and Section 508.
  3. Conduct regular audits and assessments of Caltech's digital platforms to identify and address accessibility barriers.
  4. Collaborate with web developers, designers, and content creators to improve the accessibility of digital content and applications.
  5. Educate and train staff and faculty on web accessibility best practices and guidelines.
  6. Serve as a resource for individuals with disabilities, providing support and guidance on accessing digital information.
  7. Stay up-to-date on web accessibility trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve Caltech's accessibility efforts.
  8. Monitor and track accessibility compliance and progress, and report to relevant stakeholders.
  9. Advocate for the importance of web accessibility and diversity and inclusion within the Caltech community.
  10. Work with external vendors and contractors to ensure their products and services are accessible.
  11. Collaborate with other departments and organizations to promote accessibility and inclusivity on campus.
  12. Manage budget and resources related to web accessibility efforts.
  13. Maintain documentation and records related to web accessibility compliance.
  14. Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and training to expand knowledge and skills in web accessibility.

Job Qualifications
  • Experience With Web Accessibility Standards And Guidelines: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Web Accessibility Standards Such As Wcag 2.0 And Section 508, And Be Able To Apply These Guidelines To Ensure All Web Content And Applications At Caltech Are Accessible To Individuals With Disabilities.

  • Knowledge Of Accessibility Laws And Regulations: The Web Accessibility Program Manager Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Federal And State Laws Related To Web Accessibility, Including The Americans With Disabilities Act (Ada) And The Rehabilitation Act. This Knowledge Is Essential For Ensuring Caltech's Compliance With These Laws.

  • Project Management Skills: As The Web Accessibility Program Manager, This Individual Will Be Responsible For Leading And Coordinating Accessibility Efforts Across Different Departments And Teams At Caltech. Strong Project Management Skills, Including The Ability To Plan, Organize, And Track Progress, Are Crucial For Success In This Role.

  • Communication And Collaboration Skills: The Web Accessibility Program Manager Will Need To Communicate Effectively With A Diverse Range Of Stakeholders, Including Web Developers, Content Creators, And Individuals With Disabilities. This Requires Strong Interpersonal Skills And The Ability To Work Collaboratively To Achieve Accessibility Goals.

  • Technical Expertise: While The Web Accessibility Program Manager May Not Be Responsible For Coding Or Developing Websites, Knowledge Of Web Development Languages And Technologies Is Important For Understanding And Addressing Accessibility Issues. Familiarity With Assistive Technologies And Accessibility Testing Tools Is Also Beneficial.
