  1. Maintain and optimize the scientific computing systems at the California Institute of Technology.
  2. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the scientific computing systems.
  3. Collaborate with scientists and researchers to understand their computing needs and provide solutions.
  4. Install, configure, and upgrade software and hardware components of the scientific computing systems.
  5. Monitor system performance and implement necessary adjustments to ensure optimal functionality.
  6. Manage user accounts and access permissions for the scientific computing systems.
  7. Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans for the scientific computing systems.
  8. Stay up-to-date with advancements in scientific computing technology and make recommendations for system improvements.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Computer Science, Engineering, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In A Similar Role, Preferably In A Scientific Computing Environment.

  • Proficiency In Multiple Operating Systems (E.g. Linux, Unix, Windows) And Programming Languages (E.g. Python, Java, C++).

  • Experience With Cluster Computing, Parallel Processing, And High-Performance Computing.

  • Strong Problem-Solving And Troubleshooting Skills, With The Ability To Quickly Identify And Resolve Technical Issues.
