
Project Vacuum Engineer

- Design and develop vacuum systems for research projects at the California Institute of Technology.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify areas for improvement in current vacuum systems and propose innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the successful integration of vacuum systems into research projects.
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of vacuum systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for the use of vacuum systems.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in vacuum engineering to continuously improve our systems and processes.
- Communicate project progress and any potential issues to team members and project leaders.
- Work with project leaders to establish project timelines and deliverables, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians in vacuum engineering techniques and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols related to vacuum systems.
- Collaborate with external partners and vendors to source necessary equipment and materials for vacuum systems.
- Participate in team meetings and present progress and findings related to vacuum systems.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of all vacuum systems, including maintenance logs, calibration data, and project plans.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve and optimize vacuum systems to enhance research outcomes.
- Represent the California Institute of Technology in a professional and positive manner at all times.
Bachelor's Degree In Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Vacuum System Design, Testing, And Troubleshooting.
Knowledge Of Vacuum System Components And Their Functionality, Including Pumps, Gauges, Valves, And Chambers.
Proficiency In Computer-Aided Design (Cad) Software And Simulation Tools For Vacuum System Design.
Strong Problem-Solving And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Work Independently And In A Team Setting.
