The California Institute of Technology is seeking a Manager of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Facility to oversee the operation and development of our state-of-the-art facility.   1. Oversee the daily operation of the NMR Facility, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and functioning at optimal levels.
  2. Develop and implement policies and procedures for the safe and efficient use of the facility by researchers and staff.
  3. Manage and train a team of NMR technicians and support staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality services.
  4. Collaborate with researchers to design and execute experiments using NMR techniques, providing technical expertise and support as needed.
  5. Stay current on advancements in NMR technology and techniques, making recommendations for upgrades and improvements to the facility.
  6. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all facility usage, including instrument scheduling, maintenance, and billing.
  7. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  8. Manage the facility budget, including purchasing new equipment and supplies, and allocating resources effectively.
  9. Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment within the facility and across the broader research community at the California Institute of Technology.
  10. Represent the NMR Facility at conferences, workshops, and other professional events, promoting the facility and its activities.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Chemistry, Physics, Or A Related Field With A Strong Focus On Nmr Spectroscopy.

  • Extensive Experience Operating And Maintaining Nmr Instrumentation, Particularly High-Field Nmr Systems.

  • Proven Management And Leadership Skills, With At Least 3-5 Years Of Experience Managing A Research Facility Or Laboratory.

  • Knowledge Of Nmr Experimental Design, Data Analysis, And Interpretation Techniques.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Diverse Groups Of Researchers And Effectively Train And Supervise Technical Staff.
