- Clean and maintain designated areas of the California Institute of Technology, including offices, laboratories, classrooms, and common areas.
- Utilize cleaning supplies and equipment to ensure high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Dust, mop, sweep, and vacuum surfaces and floors to remove dirt, debris, and bacteria.
- Empty and clean trash and recycling bins.
- Restock supplies, such as toilet paper, paper towels, and soap, as needed.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms and common areas.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate department.
- Follow established safety protocols and procedures while performing duties.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and inform supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
- Collaborate with other housekeeping staff to ensure all areas are thoroughly cleaned and maintained.
- Adhere to all institute policies and procedures.
- Greet and assist students, faculty, and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
- Ensure all areas are kept organized and free of clutter.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Prior Housekeeping Experience: Candidates For This Position Should Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Housekeeping Or Custodial Role, Preferably In A Similar Environment Such As A University Or Large Institution.
Knowledge Of Cleaning Techniques And Products: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Different Cleaning Methods And Be Familiar With Various Cleaning Products And Equipment. This Includes Knowledge Of Proper Sanitation Practices And The Ability To Handle And Dispose Of Cleaning Chemicals Safely.
Attention To Detail: Housekeepers At California Institute Of Technology Are Responsible For Maintaining A High Level Of Cleanliness And Organization In Various Buildings And Facilities On Campus. A Keen Eye For Detail And The Ability To Spot And Address Any Areas That Require Extra Attention Is Essential For Success In This Role.
Physical Stamina And Ability To Lift Heavy Objects: This Position Requires A Significant Amount Of Physical Activity, Including Standing, Walking, And Lifting Heavy Objects. Candidates Should Be Able To Meet The Physical Demands Of The Job And Be Comfortable Working On Their Feet For Extended Periods Of Time.
