Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an Assistant Geologist at Burns & McDonnell. As an Assistant Geologist, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to the success of our team. We are looking for individuals who are dedicated, team-oriented, and have a Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related field. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!

  1. Conduct field work and collect samples for analysis under the supervision of a senior geologist.
  2. Assist in the preparation and execution of geological surveys and investigations.
  3. Conduct geological research and analyze data to support project development.
  4. Collaborate with team members to interpret geological data and findings.
  5. Prepare reports, maps, and other documentation summarizing geological findings.
  6. Maintain accurate records and documentation of field activities and data.
  7. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while conducting field work.
  8. Continuously expand knowledge and stay updated on advancements in the field of geology.
  9. Support project managers in meeting project deadlines and deliverables.
  10. Communicate effectively with team members and clients to provide updates on project progress.
  11. Assist in the development of proposals and project budgets.
  12. Identify potential risks and challenges related to geological factors and propose mitigation strategies.
  13. Maintain and calibrate equipment used in field work.
  14. Participate in professional development opportunities, such as conferences and training programs.
  15. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Geology Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Geology Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For An Assistant Geologist Position At Burns & Mcdonnell. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In The Principles And Practices Of Geology.

  • Experience With Geological Data Collection And Analysis: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Collecting And Analyzing Geological Data, Such As Soil And Rock Samples, Water Quality Data, And Geophysical Data. This Will Allow Them To Effectively Contribute To Projects And Provide Accurate Recommendations.

  • Knowledge Of Geologic Mapping And Interpretation: Burns & Mcdonnell Looks For Candidates Who Have A Solid Understanding Of Geologic Mapping And Interpretation Techniques. This Includes The Ability To Read And Interpret Geologic Maps, Cross-Sections, And Other Geological Data To Identify Potential Hazards And Resources.

  • Familiarity With Environmental Regulations And Compliance: An Assistant Geologist At Burns & Mcdonnell May Be Involved In Environmental Projects, Such As Site Assessments And Remediation. Therefore, Knowledge Of Environmental Regulations And Compliance Is An Important Qualification For This Role.

  • Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: As An Assistant Geologist, The Candidate Will Work Closely With Other Team Members, Clients, And Stakeholders. Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential For Effectively Collaborating And Presenting Findings To Colleagues And Clients.
