Develop and maintain the observability platform for Box's cloud content management and collaboration platform.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize key metrics and data points for monitoring and alerting.
Design and implement scalable and efficient solutions for collecting, processing, and analyzing data from various systems and services.
Continuously improve and optimize the observability platform to ensure the highest level of performance and reliability.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to monitoring and observability, both proactively and reactively.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in observability tools and techniques, and make recommendations for implementing them at Box.
Work closely with other engineering teams to integrate observability into the development process and promote a culture of proactive monitoring and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with product management to define and prioritize new features and enhancements for the observability platform.
Mentor and guide junior engineers in the team, and contribute to the overall technical growth and excellence of the team.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on the status of observability initiatives and any potential risks or issues.
Participate in on-call rotations and respond to critical incidents related to observability.
Uphold high standards of code quality, performance, and security throughout the development process.
Contribute to the overall success of Box by actively participating in team meetings, sharing knowledge and ideas, and continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree In Computer Science Or Related Field: A Strong Background In Computer Science Is Essential For A Software Engineer, Observability Role At Box. This Degree Provides A Foundation In Programming, Algorithms, Data Structures, And Other Key Concepts Necessary For Developing And Maintaining Software Systems.
Proficiency In Programming Languages And Technologies: Box May Require Proficiency In Specific Programming Languages Such As Java, Python, Or Go, As Well As Experience With Technologies Such As Docker, Kubernetes, And Cloud Platforms Like Aws Or Azure. Software Engineers, Observability Must Have A Strong Understanding Of These Tools To Effectively Monitor And Troubleshoot Complex Systems.
Experience With Observability Tools And Techniques: Candidates Should Have Experience With Observability Tools Such As Prometheus, Grafana, And Elk Stack, As Well As An Understanding Of Industry Best Practices For Observability, Including Metrics, Logging, And Tracing. This Knowledge Is Crucial For Identifying And Resolving Issues In A Timely And Efficient Manner.
Strong Problem-Solving And Analytical Skills: A Successful Software Engineer, Observability Should Possess Strong Problem-Solving And Analytical Skills To Quickly Identify And Troubleshoot Issues In Complex Software Systems. They Should Also Be Able To Think Critically And Creatively To Develop Innovative Solutions To Technical Challenges.
