Job Description

Generate and pursue creative, compelling story ideas about city and county government, university-related topics and other community interests. Produce at least 3-5 online posts a day, including original and aggregated content, with the best work curated for the newspaper the following day. Develop at least three in-depth projects each year (deep dives, enterprise journalism, investigative work or longform feature stories). Take initiative to write and self-edit for online, balancing speed with accuracy and incorporating strong digital elements (SEO headline, social-shareability, multimedia content) Keep up with what other local and state news sources are covering and look for opportunities to localize or expand upon their coverage.
