Utilization Review Nurse

Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate with providers and review medical records to ensure compliance with quality and cost standards
2. Identify opportunities for improvement in care services
3. Establish performance standards and evaluate the effectiveness of quality assurance activities
4. Monitor utilization and activity data to anticipate and reduce costs
5. Evaluate requests for services based on clinical criteria and make decisions as to the appropriateness of care and services
6. Make referrals to appropriate services and resources
7. Consult with providers and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality of care
8. Provide education and training to physicians, other healthcare providers, and members on utilization management and quality assurance processes
9. Document utilization activities in accordance with state and federal regulations
10. Maintain confidentiality of patient information
11. Perform other related duties as required.
