
Medical Coder
At Blue Shield of California, our Medical Coder plays a critical role in our success by ensuring accurate coding and billing of medical services. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and organizational skills to join our team and help make a positive difference in our members’ lives.The ideal candidate for this position will have an associate’s degree or higher in medical coding, and at least two years of experience in coding and billing medical services. We also require certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have a strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems. The ideal candidate will also have an understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.We value strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines. Above all, we are looking for a professional who is passionate about making a positive difference in our members’ lives.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately code and bill medical services according to guidelines.
- Maintain detailed records of coding and billing activities.
- Ensure compliance with ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems.
- Monitor coding accuracy and billing accuracy in order to maximize reimbursement.
- Provide training and education to other coding and billing staff.
- Stay up-to-date with industry changes and best practices.
- Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals and members.
- Evaluate medical charts and documentations for accuracy.
- Analyze data to identify discrepancies and potential areas of improvement.
- Assist with the development of new coding and billing processes.
