Job Description

Bloomberg is looking for a Senior Software Engineer/SRE with expertise in Kubernetes to join our Advanced Compute team. As part of this dynamic team, you will work on developing, managing, and scaling our Kubernetes clusters to support our growing infrastructure and services.   1. Develop and maintain Kubernetes clusters to support Bloomberg's growing infrastructure and services.
  2. Collaborate with team members to design and implement Kubernetes solutions that meet business needs.
  3. Manage and scale Kubernetes clusters to ensure high availability and performance.
  4. Monitor and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters to identify and resolve issues.
  5. Stay up-to-date with the latest Kubernetes developments and best practices.
  6. Implement automation and CI/CD processes to streamline Kubernetes deployment and management.
  7. Work closely with software engineers to optimize applications for Kubernetes deployment.
  8. Take ownership of incident response and participate in on-call rotations.
  9. Proactively identify opportunities to improve the reliability and efficiency of our Kubernetes infrastructure.
  10. Mentor and coach junior team members in Kubernetes best practices and technologies.
  11. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  12. Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality.
  13. Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and leadership to provide updates and progress reports.
  14. Continuously research and evaluate new tools and technologies to enhance our Kubernetes infrastructure.
  15. Keep detailed documentation of Kubernetes configurations, processes, and procedures.

Job Qualifications

  • Extensive Experience With Kubernetes: A Senior Software Engineer/Sre For Advanced Compute At Bloomberg Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Kubernetes And Its Ecosystem, Including Experience With Deployment, Monitoring, And Troubleshooting Of Kubernetes Clusters.

  • Strong Background In Software Engineering: This Role Requires A Solid Foundation In Software Engineering Principles And Practices, Including Experience With Programming Languages Such As Java, Python, Or Go, As Well As Experience With Software Design Patterns And Architectures.

  • Experience With Cloud Computing: Bloomberg's Advanced Compute Team Leverages Cloud Computing Technologies For Their Infrastructure. Therefore, Candidates Should Have Experience Working With Cloud Platforms Such As Aws, Azure, Or Gcp, As Well As Knowledge Of Infrastructure-As-Code Tools Like Terraform Or Cloudformation.

  • Knowledge Of Sre Best Practices: The Senior Software Engineer/Sre For Advanced Compute Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Site Reliability Engineering (Sre) Principles, Including Experience With Monitoring, Alerting, Incident Response, And Reliability Engineering.

  • Excellent Troubleshooting Skills: As A Member Of The Advanced Compute Team, The Senior Software Engineer/Sre Will Be Responsible For Troubleshooting Complex Issues In A Highly Dynamic And Distributed Environment. Therefore, Candidates Should Have Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Quickly Identify And Resolve Issues In A Timely Manner.
