- Monitor patient's condition: Observe and monitor patients in their rooms to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Provide companionship: Engage with patients and provide company during their stay to promote a positive and comforting environment.
- Communicate effectively: Communicate with patients, their families, and healthcare team members to provide updates on the patient's condition and any changes that may occur.
- Remain calm in high-stress situations: Demonstrate the ability to remain calm and composed during emergency situations or when patients are experiencing distress.
- Follow protocols and procedures: Adhere to all hospital protocols and procedures for patient observation, reporting, and documentation.
- Report any changes: Promptly report any changes in the patient's condition to the nursing staff or other healthcare team members.
- Ensure patient safety: Maintain a safe environment for patients by following infection control measures, assisting with patient transfers, and monitoring for any potential safety hazards.
- Maintain confidentiality: Respect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
- Provide excellent customer service: Demonstrate a positive and friendly attitude towards patients, families, and visitors, and provide exceptional customer service at all times.
- Participate in training and education: Attend training and education sessions to maintain knowledge of patient observation techniques, safety measures, and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare team: Work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to provide the best possible care for patients.
- Uphold hospital values: Adhere to the hospital's mission, values, and standards of behavior at all times.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For This Position To Ensure Basic Education And Communication Skills.
Cpr Certification: Bjc Healthcare Requires All Patient Observers To Have Current Cpr Certification To Ensure Preparedness In Case Of A Medical Emergency.
Previous Experience In Healthcare Or Related Field: Candidates With Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting Or Related Field May Have An Advantage In Understanding Patient Needs And Behaviors.
Strong Communication Skills: Patient Observers Must Possess Strong Communication Skills In Order To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Team Members.
Ability To Work Flexible Hours: This Position May Require Working Different Shifts Including Nights, Weekends, And Holidays, So Candidates Should Be Able To Work A Flexible Schedule.
