Job Description

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population, using your musical talents to promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, and enhance overall wellbeing.   1. Develop and implement music therapy plans for patients of all ages and medical backgrounds.
  2. Assess patients' needs and create individualized treatment plans based on their physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities.
  3. Facilitate group and individual music therapy sessions, utilizing a variety of techniques and interventions to promote healing and wellbeing.
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to incorporate music therapy into patients' overall treatment plans.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting progress and any changes in treatment plans.
  6. Educate patients, families, and staff on the benefits and techniques of music therapy.
  7. Stay current with research and developments in the field of music therapy, incorporating new techniques and methods into practice.
  8. Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients during music therapy sessions.
  9. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of patient treatment plans.
  10. Adhere to ethical and professional standards set by the American Music Therapy Association.
  11. Provide support and guidance to patients and families, promoting their involvement and participation in the therapeutic process.
  12. Attend trainings and conferences to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of music therapy.
  13. Maintain professional certifications and licenses required for the position.
  14. Uphold the mission and values of BJC HealthCare through compassionate and high-quality patient care.
  15. Continuously evaluate and adjust music therapy plans based on patient progress and goals.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Music Therapy From An Accredited Program.

  • Board Certification In Music Therapy (Mt-Bc) From The Certification Board For Music Therapists (Cbmt).

  • At Least 2 Years Of Experience As A Music Therapist In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Various Music Therapy Techniques And Interventions.

  • Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team And Provide Evidence-Based Care To Patients.
