Job Description

As a Mental Health Technician with BJC HealthCare, you will be a key member of our team, providing compassionate and respectful care to patients in our Mental Health Unit. We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified professional who is passionate about mental health and patient care. The ideal candidate for this position should have an Associate's degree in a mental health field such as psychology, sociology, or a related field, along with at least one year of experience in a mental health setting. You must also be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, have strong communication skills, and be able to work independently as well as collaboratively. The Mental Health Technician is responsible for providing direct patient care, administering medication, maintaining patient records, and providing a safe and secure environment for all patients. This position requires a compassionate and respectful approach, as well as a commitment to providing excellent care to all our patients.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct patient care in a safe and secure environment.
  2. Administer medication in accordance with established protocols.
  3. Maintain patient records and provide high-quality documentation.
  4. Monitor patient behavior and respond to any changes in a timely manner.
  5. Provide emotional support and guidance to patients.
  6. Assist in developing treatment plans and providing therapeutic interventions.
  7. Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best patient care.
  8. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  9. Participate in continuing education and training in order to stay current with best practices.
