Job Description

BJC HealthCare is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Coder to join our team. This position requires a unique combination of medical knowledge and coding expertise, as well as a passion for delivering quality patient care. If you have the qualifications we require and are looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity, we invite you to apply today!Qualifications:• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)• At least 2 years of related experience in medical coding and/or health information management• In-depth knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis coding• Proficiency with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems• Excellent computer and data entry skills• Ability to work independently and in a team setting• Ability to handle large volumes of data quickly and accurately• Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively

Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems to accurately assign codes to medical diagnoses.
  2. Analyze health records and reports to ensure codes assigned are accurate and up-to-date with best practices and coding standards.
  3. Monitor changes in coding regulations and update coding protocols as needed.
  4. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  5. Maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  6. Work collaboratively with other medical coders and healthcare professionals.
  7. Enter patient data into coding systems accurately and quickly.
  8. Provide guidance and support to other members of the coding team.
  9. Research coding questions and provide appropriate answers.
  10. Participate in coding workshops, conferences, and other educational activities.
