Job Description

In this role, you will be an integral part of our pharmacy department, working alongside pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and efficient medication management for our inpatient population.   1. Assist pharmacists in dispensing and delivering medications to inpatient units.
  2. Prepare and label medications accurately and in a timely manner.
  3. Maintain inventory of medications, ensuring adequate supply levels and proper storage.
  4. Perform medication reconciliation and assist with medication histories for patients.
  5. Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure safe and effective medication management for inpatients.
  6. Follow all established policies and procedures for medication handling and administration.
  7. Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including proper handling of hazardous materials.
  8. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
  9. Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  10. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date with industry standards and best practices.
  11. Maintain accurate and complete records of medication dispensing and related activities.
  12. Communicate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure proper medication use.
  13. Assist with the maintenance of automated dispensing machines and other equipment.
  14. Identify and report any medication errors or adverse drug reactions.
  15. Promote a culture of safety and quality within the pharmacy department.
  16. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist with implementing changes to improve medication management processes.
  17. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the pharmacy department.
  18. Demonstrate a commitment to BJC HealthCare's mission and values.
  19. Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards related to pharmacy operations.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacy director or supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For An Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Position At Bjc Healthcare. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Foundation In Education And Is Able To Handle The Responsibilities Of The Job.

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification: Bjc Healthcare Requires Candidates For Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Roles To Have A Valid Pharmacy Technician Certification (Cpht) From An Accredited Institution. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Duties Of A Pharmacy Technician In An Inpatient Setting.

  • Previous Experience In An Inpatient Pharmacy Setting: Bjc Healthcare Prefers Candidates Who Have Previous Experience Working As A Pharmacy Technician In An Inpatient Setting. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Understanding Of The Unique Responsibilities And Requirements Of An Inpatient Pharmacy Technician.

  • Knowledge Of Pharmacy Software And Technology: Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians At Bjc Healthcare Are Required To Have Knowledge Of Pharmacy Software And Technology. This Includes Experience With Electronic Medical Records (Emr), Dispensing Systems, And Other Software Used In A Hospital Pharmacy Setting.

  • Attention To Detail And Strong Communication Skills: Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail And Strong Communication Skills. They Are Responsible For Accurately Preparing And Dispensing Medications And Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Healthcare Professionals And Patients.
