• Accurately and efficiently process tissue samples according to established protocols and procedures
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and calibration
• Prepare and maintain reagents and solutions used in tissue processing
• Perform routine and specialized staining techniques to highlight specific tissue components
• Embed tissue samples in paraffin blocks for sectioning
• Cut tissue sections using a microtome and mount on slides for further analysis
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate results
• Document and report any issues or discrepancies in sample processing
• Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities
• Stay updated on industry developments and advancements in histotechnology techniques
• Train and mentor new histotechnicians as needed
• Adhere to all relevant legal and ethical standards in the handling and processing of patient samples
