
Health Information Technician
At BJC HealthCare, we are looking for an experienced Health Information Technician to join our team and provide superior care to our patients. We are seeking an individual who is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about providing quality healthcare services.The Health Information Technician will be responsible for managing and organizing patient health information, including medical histories, lab results, and other documents. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive knowledge of medical records and medical terminology as well as strong computer skills. The candidate should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, medical staff, and other healthcare personnel.The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited health information technology program, and professional certification, such as RHIT or RHIA. Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desired but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and organize patient health information, including medical histories, lab results, and other documents
- Utilize comprehensive knowledge of medical records and medical terminology
- Possess strong computer skills in order to effectively use medical information systems
- Develop and maintain effective communication and interpersonal relationships with patients, medical staff, and other healthcare personnel
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards related to health information
- Follow established protocols for handling confidential patient information
- Perform data entry and data analysis of patient health information
- Monitor and audit medical records for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and submit reports to relevant regulatory agencies
- Respond to requests from physicians and other healthcare personnel for patient information
- Assist with the development of health information systems and databases
- Research and recommend new health information technology solutions
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to health information management
