Health Information Technician

We are looking for an experienced Health Information Technician to join our team at BJC HealthCare. As a Health Information Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining patient records and ensuring all information is recorded correctly and stored securely. To be successful in this role, you must have a keen attention to detail and be able to work independently but also as part of a team. An Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology or a related field is also preferred. You must have a strong understanding of medical terminology, as well as knowledge of coding and classification systems. Additionally, excellent organizational and communication skills are required, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain patient records and ensure all information is recorded correctly and stored securely.
2. Follow coding and classification systems to accurately document patient information.
3. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
4. Utilize data entry and other electronic systems to collect, compile, and maintain medical records.
5. Make sure all medical records are current and up-to-date.
6. Work with other healthcare professionals to ensure accuracy of medical records.
7. Generate reports for management and other healthcare personnel.
8. Resolve discrepancies in patient records.
9. Provide assistance to healthcare providers in retrieving patient information.
10. Handle patient inquiries and provide guidance and support.
