Job Description

As a Child Life Specialist (PRN), you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our young patients by helping them cope with the challenges of illness and hospitalization.   • Provide emotional support and developmentally appropriate interventions to pediatric patients and their families during their hospital stay
  • Create and implement child life programs and activities to promote coping, play, and normalcy for pediatric patients
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess and address the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and their families
  • Utilize knowledge of child development and family dynamics to support and educate parents and caregivers on how to best support their child during hospitalization
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of interventions and patient progress
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and meetings to advocate for the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and organizations to provide additional support and resources for pediatric patients and their families
  • Adhere to ethical standards and guidelines set by the Child Life Council and BJC HealthCare
  • Continuously seek opportunities for personal and professional development in the field of child life
  • Maintain a safe and child-friendly environment for patients and families, adhering to infection control and safety protocols
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Collaborate with other child life specialists and team members to ensure consistent and quality care for pediatric patients and families.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or Related Field

  • Certification As A Child Life Specialist (Ccls)

  • Minimum Of 1 Year Experience Working As A Child Life Specialist In A Healthcare Setting

  • Knowledge Of Child Development And Understanding Of The Impact Of Illness/Hospitalization On Children And Families

  • Ability To Work Prn (As Needed) And Have Flexible Availability, Including Weekends And Holidays.
