Job Description

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our team as an Assistant Brewer. This role is perfect for someone who has a strong interest in the art and science of brewing, and is looking to take their brewing skills to the next level. As an Assistant Brewer, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our experienced Head Brewer and contribute to the creation of unique and flavorful beers. If you have a keen attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn and grow in the brewing industry, we want to hear from you!

  1. Assist the Head Brewer in all aspects of the brewing process, including milling, mashing, boiling, fermenting, and packaging.
  2. Follow recipes and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and quality in all beers produced.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized brewing area, including equipment, tanks, and storage areas.
  4. Monitor and record daily brewing activities, such as temperature and gravity readings, and report any issues or concerns to the Head Brewer.
  5. Help with the development of new beer recipes and participate in taste testing and feedback sessions.
  6. Collaborate with the brewing team to troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the brewing process.
  7. Assist with the maintenance and repair of brewing equipment as needed.
  8. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  9. Continually educate oneself on brewing techniques, ingredients, and industry trends.
  10. Communicate effectively and positively with team members and other departments.
  11. Represent BJ's Restaurants with professionalism and enthusiasm for the brand.
  12. Provide exceptional customer service to guests by answering questions and sharing knowledge about our beers.
  13. Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned by the Head Brewer or management.

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge Of Brewing Process: The Assistant Brewer Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Brewing Process, Including Recipe Formulation, Mashing, Boiling, Fermentation, And Packaging.

  • Experience In A Brewery Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Brewery, Either As An Assistant Brewer Or In Another Role, Is Essential For This Position. This Experience Should Include Hands-On Brewing Experience And Knowledge Of Equipment And Sanitation Procedures.

  • Strong Communication Skills: As An Assistant Brewer, You Will Be Working Closely With The Head Brewer And Other Team Members, So Strong Communication Skills Are A Must. This Includes The Ability To Give And Receive Feedback, As Well As Effectively Communicate With Other Team Members.

  • Attention To Detail: Brewing Requires Precision And Attention To Detail. The Assistant Brewer Should Have A Keen Eye For Detail And Be Able To Follow Recipes And Procedures Accurately To Ensure Consistent Quality In The Beer.

  • Physical Stamina: Brewing Can Be Physically Demanding, And The Assistant Brewer Should Be Able To Handle The Physical Aspects Of The Job, Such As Lifting Heavy Bags Of Grain And Spending Long Hours On Their Feet. Physical Stamina And The Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment Are Important Qualifications For This Position.
