Job Description

Are you passionate about crafting delicious, hand-crafted beers? Do you have a strong understanding of brewing techniques and a desire to learn more? BJ's Restaurants is seeking a motivated and skilled Assistant Brewer to join our team and help us continue to produce high-quality, unique brews for our guests. As an Assistant Brewer, you will work alongside our Head Brewer to assist with all aspects of the brewing process, from ingredient selection to packaging. If you have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a love for all things beer, we want to hear from you!

  1. Assist the Head Brewer in all aspects of the brewing process, including ingredient selection, recipe development, and production.
  2. Maintain a thorough understanding of brewing techniques, equipment, and processes.
  3. Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of all brewing equipment and work areas.
  4. Collaborate with the Head Brewer to develop new and innovative beer recipes that align with the company's brand and standards.
  5. Monitor and track inventory levels of brewing ingredients and supplies, and assist with ordering as needed.
  6. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when handling and working with brewing equipment and materials.
  7. Conduct regular quality control checks on beer throughout the brewing process to ensure consistency and quality.
  8. Assist with packaging and labeling of finished products, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  9. Keep detailed records of all brewing activities, including ingredients used, brewing times, and quality control results.
  10. Continuously seek opportunities to improve and optimize the brewing process, including identifying potential cost-saving measures.
  11. Train and mentor new team members on brewing techniques, safety procedures, and company standards.
  12. Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  13. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, new brewing techniques, and emerging ingredients to enhance product offerings.
  14. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety, sanitation, and quality control standards.
  15. Support the Head Brewer in special projects or initiatives related to brewing or company goals.

Job Qualifications

  • Previous Brewing Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Professional Brewing Environment, With A Strong Understanding Of The Brewing Process, Equipment, And Techniques.

  • Knowledge Of Beer Styles: A Solid Understanding Of Different Beer Styles, Including Their Flavor Profiles, Ingredients, And Brewing Processes Is Crucial For An Assistant Brewer. This Knowledge Will Help In Recipe Creation And Quality Control.

  • Strong Work Ethic: Brewing Is A Physically Demanding Job That Requires Long Hours And Attention To Detail. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Able To Work Independently And As Part Of A Team, With A Strong Work Ethic And A Positive Attitude.

  • Quality Control Skills: As An Assistant Brewer, You Will Be Responsible For Monitoring The Quality Of The Beer At Various Stages Of The Brewing Process. The Ability To Identify And Troubleshoot Any Issues Is Essential For Maintaining The High Standards Of Bj's Beer.

  • Brewing Education: While Not Required, A Degree Or Certification In Brewing Or A Related Field Can Be Beneficial For An Assistant Brewer Position. This May Include Courses In Brewing Science, Microbiology, Or Sensory Evaluation.
