Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Principal Scientist - Upstream Process Development to join our BioMarin Pharmaceutical team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development and optimization of upstream manufacturing processes and unit operations for therapeutic proteins and enzyme-based products.You should have a PhD in biochemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field, with at least 8-10 years of relevant experience in bioprocess development. Additionally, you must have a thorough understanding of molecular biology, cell culture, and protein purification, as well as experience in troubleshooting and process optimization.The ideal candidate for this role will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You should be self-motivated and have a passion for scientific excellence. Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the development and optimization of upstream manufacturing processes and unit operations for therapeutic proteins and enzyme-based products.
  2. Provide technical expertise and scientific leadership to develop and implement strategies for process improvement.
  3. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Develop and execute experiments to evaluate new process technologies and approaches.
  5. Analyze data to identify trends and optimize process parameters.
  6. Design and implement process control strategies and other process analytical technologies.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to process development and optimization.
  8. Prepare reports and presentations outlining process development results.
  9. Provide mentorship, guidance, and training to junior scientists.
  10. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
