Lead and manage the processing team to ensure timely and accurate processing of mortgage applications from start to finish.
Develop and implement efficient and effective processes to streamline the mortgage application and approval process.
Monitor and track team performance metrics to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
Identify areas for improvement in the mortgage processing workflow and implement solutions to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including loan officers, underwriters, and third-party vendors.
Train and mentor team members on mortgage processing procedures, policies, and systems.
Stay up-to-date on industry regulations and compliance requirements to ensure company processes are in line with legal standards.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless and positive customer experience throughout the entire mortgage process.
Provide regular performance feedback to team members and conduct performance evaluations.
Set and track team goals and objectives to drive results and achieve company targets.
Manage and resolve any escalated customer issues related to the processing of their mortgage application.
Continuously evaluate and improve the processing department's technology and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Represent the processing team in meetings with senior management to provide updates on team performance, challenges, and opportunities.
Foster a positive and collaborative team culture to ensure a motivated and engaged workforce.

Job Qualifications

Extensive Experience In Mortgage Processing: The Ideal Candidate For A Director Of Processing Role At Better Mortgage Should Have A Minimum Of 8-10 Years Of Experience In Mortgage Processing, Preferably In A Leadership Or Managerial Position. This Experience Should Include A Thorough Understanding Of Underwriting Guidelines, Loan Origination Systems, And Regulatory Compliance.
Strong Leadership Skills: As A Director Of Processing, The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Leadership Skills And Be Able To Effectively Manage A Team Of Processors. This Includes The Ability To Set Clear Goals And Expectations, Provide Constructive Feedback, And Inspire And Motivate Team Members To Achieve Their Full Potential.
In-Depth Knowledge Of Industry Regulations: The Mortgage Industry Is Highly Regulated, And The Director Of Processing Should Have A Strong Understanding Of All Relevant Regulations, Including But Not Limited To Trid, Respa, And Hmda. They Should Also Have Experience Working With Government-Sponsored Entities (Gses) Such As Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Strong Communication Skills Are Essential For A Director Of Processing, As They Will Be Responsible For Liaising With Various Stakeholders, Including Loan Officers, Underwriters, And Closing Agents. The Candidate Should Also Have Excellent Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Manage Relationships With Both Internal And External Parties.
Proven Track Record Of Driving Process Improvements: The Director Of Processing Should Have A Track Record Of Implementing Process Improvements That Result In Increased Efficiency And Productivity. This Could Include Streamlining Workflows, Introducing New Technologies, Or Developing Training Programs For Processors. The Candidate Should Be Able To Demonstrate Measurable Results From Their Previous Process Improvement Initiatives.
