Benedict College is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Upward Bound Program Assistant. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with students, families, and staff to provide valuable resources and guidance to help students succeed.   1. Work closely with the Upward Bound Program Director to assist in the development and implementation of program goals and objectives.
  2. Provide individualized support and guidance to students in the program, helping them set and achieve academic and personal goals.
  3. Plan and facilitate workshops and activities that promote academic success, personal growth, and college readiness.
  4. Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and community organizations to identify and recruit eligible students for the program.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including attendance, grades, and progress towards program goals.
  6. Assist in the coordination of college visits, cultural events, and other enrichment activities for program participants.
  7. Communicate regularly with students and their families to provide updates on program activities and student progress.
  8. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed on program policies, procedures, and best practices.
  9. Serve as a positive role model for students, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  10. Assist with grant writing and reporting to support the sustainability of the Upward Bound program.
  11. Keep track of program budget and expenditures, ensuring that resources are used effectively and efficiently.
  12. Attend professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to working with underrepresented students.
  13. Uphold the mission and values of Benedict College and the Upward Bound program in all interactions with students, staff, and community partners.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Education, Sociology, Or Social Work.

  • Experience Working With Low-Income, First-Generation, And/Or Underrepresented High School Students.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Engage With Diverse Populations.

  • Knowledge Of College Readiness And Access Programs, As Well As Federal Regulations And Guidelines Related To Upward Bound.

  • Demonstrated Organizational And Administrative Skills, With The Ability To Manage Multiple Tasks And Prioritize Effectively.
