Surgical Technician First Assistant

Responsibilities:

1. Assist surgeons during surgical procedures, including passing instruments, sponges and sutures.
2. Prepare patient for surgery by positioning patient, setting up sterile field and draping patient.
3. Assist with closing and dressing wounds.
4. Maintain a clean and safe operating room environment.
5. Monitor and document vital signs and other patient data.
6. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
7. Ensure that all equipment is in proper working order and follow safety protocols.
8. Participate in in-services and continuing education programs.
9. Provide support to the surgical team during emergency situations.
10. Monitor patient comfort and respond to patient needs.
