Job Description

As a Senior Counsel, Labor & Employment at BAE Systems, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our organization by providing expert legal advice and guidance on all matters related to labor and employment law.   1. Provide expert legal advice and guidance on all matters related to labor and employment law to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  2. Collaborate with the Human Resources team to develop and implement effective strategies and policies to manage labor and employment issues.
  3. Advise senior leadership on the potential legal implications of business decisions and provide guidance on mitigating risks.
  4. Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in labor and employment laws to ensure the organization remains compliant.
  5. Lead and manage complex labor and employment litigation matters, including internal investigations and dispute resolution.
  6. Review and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to labor and employment matters.
  7. Train and educate employees and managers on labor and employment laws and company policies.
  8. Develop and maintain strong relationships with external legal counsel and represent the company in legal proceedings, as needed.
  9. Analyze and assess potential legal risks and provide recommendations to mitigate or resolve them.
  10. Act as a mentor and resource for other legal team members, providing guidance and support on labor and employment law matters.
  11. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency and alignment in legal strategies and decisions.
  12. Keep abreast of industry best practices and trends in labor and employment law and make recommendations for improving company policies and procedures.
  13. Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and maintain the highest level of ethical standards.
  14. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of legal operations related to labor and employment law.
  15. Adhere to all company policies and procedures and maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity in all interactions.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Knowledge Of Labor And Employment Laws: A Senior Counsel At Bae Systems Must Have A Deep Understanding Of Federal, State, And Local Labor And Employment Laws, As Well As Regulations And Court Decisions.

  • Prior Experience In Both Labor And Employment Law: This Hybrid Position Requires A Candidate With Previous Experience In Both Labor And Employment Law, As They Will Be Responsible For Handling Legal Matters Related To Both Areas.

  • Strong Negotiation Skills: As A Senior Counsel, The Individual Will Be Expected To Negotiate With Various Parties, Such As Unions And Government Agencies, On Behalf Of The Company. Therefore, Strong Negotiation Skills Are A Must.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: This Role Involves Working Closely With Internal Stakeholders, Such As Hr Teams And Senior Management, As Well As External Parties. The Ideal Candidate Must Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Convey Legal Advice And Build Relationships.

  • Proven Track Record Of Successful Litigation: In The Event Of Legal Disputes, The Senior Counsel Will Be Responsible For Representing Bae Systems In Court. Therefore, A Strong Track Record Of Successful Litigation Is A Crucial Qualification For This Role.
