Maintains and sustains a safe working environment by following, practicing and encouraging others to observe all safety precautions required while working in a heavy industrial environment. Ensures safe working environment by following correct lock-out, danger, red tag procedures and WAF requirements. Determines relevant drawings required for a job by reviewing job packet, locating relevant drawings and then cross-referencing with resources such as Navy Standards Items, ISO 9000 procedures, IEEE and Chapter 300 EPISM. Lays out jobs by identifying installation equipment requirements, e.g., hangers, boxes, conduit, wire ways, etc., tools and control equipment, e.g., push-buttons, switches, controller and power distribution panels, etc. Conducts rip-out of systems using hand and power tools, e.g., cable cutters, saws-all, grinders, by following schematics or work order instructions. Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, controllers, and circuit breaker panels, fastening in place using hand and power tools. Determines cable paths to equipment aboard ships using blueprints (cable routing plans), job orders, and other sources of information.
