Job Description

In this critical position, you will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our monitoring and observability systems to ensure the reliability and performance of our life-saving mission.   1. Lead the design and implementation of monitoring and observability systems for the American Red Cross.
  2. Ensure the reliability and performance of the organization's life-saving mission through effective monitoring and observability practices.
  3. Maintain and continuously improve the monitoring and observability systems, keeping them up-to-date with the latest technological advancements.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their monitoring and observability needs and provide solutions that meet their requirements.
  5. Develop and maintain documentation and standard operating procedures for monitoring and observability systems.
  6. Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies related to monitoring and observability, and make recommendations for their implementation.
  7. Train and mentor junior engineers on monitoring and observability best practices and technologies.
  8. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to monitoring and observability systems in a timely manner.
  9. Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements for monitoring and observability systems.
  10. Utilize innovative and creative thinking to enhance the organization's monitoring and observability capabilities.
  11. Continuously evaluate and improve the performance of monitoring and observability systems, and make recommendations for optimization.
  12. Proactively identify potential risks and develop plans to mitigate them.
  13. Collaborate with external vendors and partners as needed to implement and maintain monitoring and observability systems.
  14. Regularly report on the performance and effectiveness of monitoring and observability systems to senior management.
  15. Demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and values of the American Red Cross.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience In Designing And Implementing Monitoring And Observability Solutions In Large-Scale And Complex Environments.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Industry-Leading Monitoring And Observability Tools And Technologies, Such As Prometheus, Grafana, And Elk Stack.

  • Proven Track Record Of Leading And Managing Cross-Functional Teams To Deliver High-Quality Monitoring And Observability Solutions.

  • Strong Understanding Of Cloud Computing And Infrastructure, Including Experience With Aws, Azure, Or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate Technical Information To Both Technical And Non-Technical Stakeholders.
