- Utilize technical expertise to assess and improve the scalability of systems and applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and troubleshoot issues, providing technical guidance and support.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in monitoring and observability tools and techniques, and make recommendations for their implementation.
- Create and maintain documentation for monitoring and observability processes and procedures.
- Analyze data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and proactively address potential issues.
- Lead the design and implementation of new monitoring and observability solutions, ensuring they align with organizational goals and objectives.
- Mentor and train team members on best practices for monitoring and observability.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and provide technical guidance to other departments within the organization.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize the monitoring and observability strategy to improve overall performance and reliability.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the American Red Cross.
Extensive Experience In Monitoring And Observability Technologies: A Sr. Principal Engineer Should Possess A Deep Understanding Of Various Monitoring And Observability Tools And Technologies, Such As Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, And Splunk. They Should Also Have Experience In Designing And Implementing Monitoring Systems For Large-Scale Environments.
Strong Understanding Of Devops Principles And Practices: In Order To Effectively Monitor And Observe Complex Systems, A Sr. Principal Engineer Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Devops Principles And Practices. This Includes Knowledge Of Automation, Infrastructure As Code, And Continuous Integration And Delivery.
Expertise In Cloud Computing: The American Red Cross Relies Heavily On Cloud Computing For Its Operations. Therefore, A Sr. Principal Engineer Should Have Extensive Experience Working With Cloud Platforms Such As Aws, Azure, Or Google Cloud. They Should Also Be Familiar With Cloud-Native Monitoring And Observability Tools.
Leadership And Project Management Skills: As A Senior Role, A Sr. Principal Engineer Should Have Strong Leadership And Project Management Skills. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Lead A Team, Delegate Tasks, And Manage Projects From Conception To Completion.
Excellent Problem-Solving And Analytical Skills: Monitoring And Observability Requires The Ability To Identify And Troubleshoot Complex Issues In Real-Time. A Sr. Principal Engineer Should Possess Excellent Problem-Solving And Analytical Skills To Quickly Identify And Resolve Issues, As Well As Proactively Identify Potential Problems Before They Occur.
