Job Description

As a Sr. Principal Engineer, Monitoring & Observability, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our systems and applications, ultimately impacting the lives of those in need.   1. Develop and implement a comprehensive monitoring and observability strategy for all Red Cross systems and applications.
  2. Design and build monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address any issues or vulnerabilities.
  3. Lead and mentor a team of engineers responsible for monitoring and observability.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of all systems.
  5. Identify and implement new tools and technologies to improve monitoring and observability capabilities.
  6. Monitor system and application performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to monitoring and observability in a timely manner.
  8. Develop and maintain documentation and training materials for monitoring and observability processes and procedures.
  9. Stay current on industry trends and best practices in monitoring and observability, continuously improving processes and systems.
  10. Provide regular updates and reports to stakeholders on the status and effectiveness of the monitoring and observability strategy.
  11. Collaborate with external vendors and partners to ensure effective monitoring and observability of all systems and applications.
  12. Conduct regular audits and tests to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of monitoring and observability systems.
  13. Communicate with management and other teams to ensure alignment of monitoring and observability goals with overall organizational objectives.
  14. Act as a subject matter expert on monitoring and observability, providing guidance and support to other teams as needed.
  15. Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information related to monitoring and observability.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience In Designing, Implementing, And Maintaining Monitoring And Observability Systems In A Large-Scale Environment.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Industry-Standard Monitoring Tools And Technologies, Such As Prometheus, Grafana, And Elk Stack.

  • Proven Track Record Of Developing And Implementing Best Practices For Monitoring And Observability, Including Alerting, Troubleshooting, And Incident Response.

  • Strong Leadership Skills And Ability To Mentor And Guide Junior Engineers In The Monitoring And Observability Space.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills, With The Ability To Work Closely With Cross-Functional Teams To Understand And Address Monitoring Needs Across The Organization.
