- Develop and implement monitoring and observability strategies and tools to ensure the stability and reliability of our systems.
- Design and maintain monitoring and observability systems, including troubleshooting and resolving issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address any potential risks or vulnerabilities in the systems.
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and new technologies in monitoring and observability to continuously improve our systems.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers on monitoring and observability best practices.
- Develop and maintain documentation for monitoring and observability processes and procedures.
- Conduct regular performance and scalability testing to identify and address any potential bottlenecks.
- Work closely with other engineering teams to integrate monitoring and observability into the development process.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of monitoring and observability processes.
- Communicate and present monitoring and observability insights and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
Extensive Experience With Monitoring And Observability Tools And Platforms: A Sr. Principal Engineer In This Role Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Various Monitoring And Observability Tools And Platforms, Including But Not Limited To Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic, And Splunk. They Should Have A Track Record Of Successfully Implementing And Maintaining These Tools To Ensure The Smooth Functioning Of Critical Systems.
Strong Knowledge Of Cloud Infrastructure: The American Red Cross Heavily Relies On Cloud Infrastructure, And A Sr. Principal Engineer In This Role Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Cloud Computing Concepts And Technologies, Such As Aws, Azure, And Google Cloud. They Should Be Well-Versed In Designing And Implementing Monitoring Solutions For Cloud-Based Systems.
Leadership And Project Management Skills: As A Senior Role, The Sr. Principal Engineer Will Be Expected To Lead And Manage Complex Projects Related To Monitoring And Observability. This Requires Strong Leadership Skills, Including The Ability To Delegate Tasks, Provide Guidance And Direction, And Effectively Communicate With Cross-Functional Teams.
Problem-Solving And Analytical Skills: The American Red Cross Handles Critical And Time-Sensitive Operations, And Any Issues With Monitoring And Observability Can Have Serious Consequences.
