Job Description

In this role, you will play a crucial part in our mission to provide relief and support to those affected by natural disasters.   1. Develop and implement disaster response programs in collaboration with the American Red Cross team.
  2. Manage and oversee all aspects of disaster response programs, including planning, budgeting, and execution.
  3. Conduct needs assessments and identify areas where disaster relief and support are needed.
  4. Collaborate with local and national partners to ensure effective coordination and delivery of services.
  5. Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to assist with disaster response efforts.
  6. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments to ensure maximum impact.
  7. Stay up-to-date on current disaster response trends, best practices, and policies.
  8. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders, government agencies, and other key stakeholders.
  10. Represent the American Red Cross in meetings, events, and public speaking engagements.
  11. Provide support and guidance to disaster victims and their families.
  12. Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on program activities and outcomes.
  13. Collaborate with the communications team to raise awareness and support for disaster response efforts.
  14. Maintain a high level of professionalism and uphold the values and mission of the American Red Cross.
  15. Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Disaster Services Director.

  • Knowledge Of Disaster Response And Management: A Program Specialist Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Disaster Response Protocols, Emergency Management Principles, And Disaster Relief Resources.

  • Experience In Program Planning And Implementation: This Role Requires The Ability To Plan, Organize, And Execute Disaster Response Programs Efficiently And Effectively. Candidates Should Have Experience In Developing And Implementing Disaster Response Plans.

  • Strong Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Program Specialist, You Will Be Responsible For Coordinating And Leading A Team Of Volunteers And Staff Members. Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills Are Necessary To Effectively Delegate Tasks And Manage Team Dynamics.

  • Understanding Of Community Outreach And Partnerships: The American Red Cross Works Closely With Local Communities And Partners To Provide Disaster Relief Services. A Program Specialist Should Have Experience In Community Outreach And Building Partnerships To Support Disaster Response Efforts.

  • Ability To Work Under Pressure And In Fast-Paced Environments: Disaster Response Can Be Unpredictable And Requires Individuals Who Can Remain Calm And Focused In High-Stress Situations. A Program Specialist Should Be Able To Adapt To Changing Circumstances And Work Efficiently In A Fast-Paced Environment.
