Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Program Specialist to join our Disaster Services team. As a Program Specialist, you will play a critical role in coordinating and implementing disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts, ensuring that our organization is able to effectively assist those affected by disasters.   1. Coordinate and oversee all aspects of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with local government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance disaster response capabilities.
  3. Conduct assessments and identify potential disaster risks in the community.
  4. Develop and implement disaster response plans and protocols.
  5. Train and manage a team of volunteers to effectively respond to disasters.
  6. Ensure all disaster response activities are in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  7. Communicate with disaster victims and their families to assess needs and provide support and resources.
  8. Collaborate with other departments and organizations to coordinate relief efforts and resources.
  9. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of disaster response programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  10. Maintain accurate records and reports on all disaster response activities.
  11. Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and trends in disaster management.
  12. Represent the organization at community events and meetings to promote disaster preparedness and response efforts.
  13. Provide support and guidance to volunteers and staff during times of disaster.
  14. Assist with fundraising and grant writing efforts to secure resources for disaster relief.
  15. Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure the safety of all volunteers and staff during disaster response operations.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Emergency Management, Public Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Disaster Response And Recovery, Including Managing Volunteers And Coordinating Relief Efforts.

  • Knowledge Of Disaster Response Protocols And Procedures, Including Fema Regulations And National Incident Management System (Nims).

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Diverse Groups Of People, Including Volunteers, Local Government Officials, And Community Partners.

  • Proven Organizational And Project Management Skills, With The Ability To Multitask And Prioritize Tasks In A Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment.
