  1. Perform phlebotomy procedures on blood donors in a safe, efficient, and compassionate manner.
  2. Follow strict safety protocols to ensure the safety of donors and the integrity of blood donations.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to uphold high standards of infection control.
  4. Accurately complete donor eligibility screenings to ensure the safety and suitability of blood donations.
  5. Provide excellent customer service to donors, addressing any questions or concerns they may have about the donation process.
  6. Monitor donors for any adverse reactions and provide appropriate care and assistance as needed.
  7. Properly label and process blood donations for testing and distribution.
  8. Keep accurate records of donor information and blood donations.
  9. Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and effective operations of the donor center.
  10. Stay up-to-date on phlebotomy techniques, safety protocols, and industry standards to maintain the highest level of proficiency.
  11. Educate donors on the importance of blood donation and the impact their donation has on saving lives.
  12. Adhere to all American Red Cross policies and procedures, including confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  13. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  14. Maintain a positive and professional attitude, representing the American Red Cross mission and values.

Job Qualifications

  • Certified Phlebotomist: Candidates Should Possess A Valid Certification As A Phlebotomist From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform Blood Collection Procedures Accurately And Safely.

  • Knowledge Of Blood Collection Procedures: Candidates Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Blood Collection Procedures, Including Venipuncture, Fingerstick, And Heelstick Techniques. They Should Also Be Familiar With Aseptic Techniques And Proper Handling And Labeling Of Blood Samples.

  • Experience In A Medical Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Medical Setting, Such As A Hospital, Clinic, Or Blood Bank, Is Preferred. This Demonstrates An Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Infection Control Procedures, And The Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And High-Pressure Environment.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Donor Center Phlebotomists Must Have Excellent Communication Skills To Interact With A Diverse Group Of Donors And Healthcare Professionals. This Includes The Ability To Explain Procedures To Donors, Provide Instructions For Post-Donation Care, And Communicate Any Issues Or Concerns To The Appropriate Personnel.

  • Compassionate And Professional Attitude: The Role Of A Donor Center Phlebotomist Involves Working With Blood Donors Who May Be Anxious, Uncomfortable, Or Have Special Needs. Therefore, Candidates Should Have A Caring And Empathetic Attitude, While Also Maintaining A Professional Demeanor At All Times.
