  1. Perform phlebotomy procedures on blood donors in a safe and efficient manner.
  2. Adhere to all established protocols and safety measures to ensure the accuracy and quality of collected blood products.
  3. Educate donors on the importance of blood donation and provide exceptional donor care throughout the process.
  4. Maintain accurate and complete records of donor information and specimen samples.
  5. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of supplies and equipment necessary for phlebotomy procedures.
  6. Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily collection goals and ensure a positive donor experience.
  7. Follow all HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of donor information.
  8. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay updated on industry standards and best practices.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote a safe and welcoming donor center.
  10. Provide exceptional customer service to all donors and assist with any questions or concerns.
  11. Follow all infection control and safety procedures to minimize risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
  12. Participate in special projects and initiatives to support the overall mission of the American Red Cross.
  13. Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations related to blood collection and handling.
  14. Demonstrate a commitment to the organization's values and promote a culture of inclusivity and diversity.
  15. Continuously assess and improve processes to increase efficiency and donor satisfaction.

Job Qualifications

  • Certification In Phlebotomy: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Valid Certification In Phlebotomy From A Recognized Institution. This Ensures That They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform Blood Draws Accurately And Safely.

  • Experience In A Donor Center: Prior Experience Working As A Phlebotomist In A Donor Center Is Highly Preferred. This Demonstrates The Candidate's Familiarity With The Specific Protocols And Procedures Followed In Blood Donation Centers.

  • Knowledge Of Blood Collection Procedures: A Strong Understanding Of Blood Collection Procedures, Including Venipuncture And Fingerstick Techniques, Is Essential For A Donor Center Phlebotomist. This Includes Knowledge Of Equipment And Supplies Used In Blood Collection And Handling.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Donor Center Phlebotomists Interact With A Diverse Group Of People, Including Donors, Staff, And Volunteers. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills Are Necessary To Effectively Explain Procedures And Provide Instructions To Donors And Other Team Members.

  • Ability To Handle Stressful Situations: Working In A Donor Center Can Be Fast-Paced And Demanding. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Able To Handle Stressful Situations With Calmness And Maintain A High Level Of Professionalism In All Interactions With Donors And Colleagues.
