Job Description

The American Red Cross is seeking a dynamic and experienced Disaster Program Manager to join our team. As the Disaster Program Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. Your strong organizational skills, strategic thinking, and ability to handle complex situations will be critical to the success of our disaster response operations.   1. Develop and implement disaster preparedness plans and protocols for the community in collaboration with the American Red Cross team.
  2. Oversee and lead a team of disaster response volunteers and staff, providing direction, support, and training to ensure effective and efficient operations.
  3. Monitor and assess potential disaster risks in the community, and develop strategies to mitigate and respond to these risks.
  4. Establish relationships and partnerships with local emergency management agencies, government officials, and other community organizations to enhance disaster response efforts.
  5. Coordinate and manage all resources, including personnel, supplies, and equipment, to ensure timely and effective response to disasters.
  6. Develop and maintain effective communication channels with all stakeholders, including volunteers, staff, partners, and affected community members.
  7. Conduct regular evaluations and assessments of disaster response operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  8. Ensure all disaster response activities comply with American Red Cross policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
  9. Prepare and submit reports and updates on disaster response efforts to the American Red Cross leadership and external stakeholders.
  10. Stay updated on best practices and industry standards in disaster preparedness and response and incorporate them into the disaster program.
  11. Participate in disaster response operations and serve as a leader and resource during high-stress and emergency situations.
  12. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment for volunteers and staff, promoting teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect.
  13. Represent the American Red Cross in meetings, workshops, conferences, and other events related to disaster preparedness and response.
  14. Continuously promote the mission and values of the American Red Cross and engage with the community to raise awareness and support for disaster response efforts.
  15. Perform any other duties as assigned by the American Red Cross leadership to ensure the success of the disaster program.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Emergency Management Policies And Procedures.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Emergency Management, Public Administration, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Emergency Response And Disaster Management.

  • Strong Leadership And Organizational Skills, With The Ability To Manage And Coordinate Multiple Projects And Teams.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Diverse Stakeholders In High-Pressure Situations.
