- Collect blood donations from donors in a safe and professional manner.
- Ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are prepared and available for each donation.
- Accurately record donor information and maintain confidentiality of all donor records.
- Provide excellent customer service to donors, making them feel welcome and appreciated.
- Educate donors on the importance of blood donation and provide information on the donation process.
- Monitor donors for any adverse reactions and provide appropriate care if needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety and infection control protocols.
- Adhere to all regulatory and organizational policies and procedures.
- Assist with recruitment and scheduling of blood drives to ensure a steady supply of blood donations.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain proficiency in blood collection techniques and procedures.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Serve as an ambassador for the American Red Cross and promote its mission and values.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
- May be required to travel to different locations for blood drives.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge Of Phlebotomy Techniques: A Blood Collection Staff At The American Red Cross Must Possess A Deep Understanding And Proficiency In Phlebotomy Procedures, Including Venipuncture And Capillary Blood Collection.
Experience In Blood Collection: Candidates For This Role Must Have Prior Experience In Blood Collection, Preferably In A Clinical Or Healthcare Setting. They Should Be Well-Versed In Handling And Processing Blood Samples According To Established Protocols.
Certification And Training: A Valid Certification In Phlebotomy Or Medical Assisting, As Well As Current Cpr Certification, Is Required For This Role. The American Red Cross May Also Provide Additional Training And Certifications Specific To Their Organization.
Attention To Detail: As The Accuracy And Safety Of Blood Collection Are Crucial, Candidates Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail. They Should Be Meticulous In Following Protocols And Procedures To Avoid Any Errors Or Contamination.
Compassion And Empathy: The American Red Cross Values Individuals Who Demonstrate Compassion And Empathy In Their Work. Blood Collection Staff Must Be Able To Provide A Comforting And Reassuring Experience For Donors, Many Of Whom May Be Anxious Or First-Time Donors.
