Pipefitter

At American Axle & Manufacturing-AAM, we are looking for a Pipefitter to join our team of highly skilled and motivated technicians. This position is important to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our production processes. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical aptitude, experience with pipefitting tools, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for a qualified individual that has a minimum of 5 years of experience in pipefitting or a related field. The successful candidate must also have a strong understanding of blueprints and schematics as well as the ability to read and interpret them. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential to this role. In addition, a valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required. Responsibilities:

1. Assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, according to specifications.
2. Interpret blueprints and schematics to determine the type and specification of pipefitting needed.
3. Use tools such as saws, pipe cutters, and threaders to cut and thread pipes.
4. Calculate the size and amount of pipe needed for installation.
5. Secure pipes to walls and fixtures using clamps, brackets, and hangers.
6. Install and maintain valves, pressure gauges, and other related equipment.
7. Test systems for leaks and other potential problems.
8. Repair and replace leaking pipes, valves, and other related equipment.
9. Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
10. Follow safety guidelines and regulations.
11. Operate a vehicle safely to transport equipment and supplies.
