- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of medical equipment and instruments to ensure proper functionality and sterility.
- Follow all established protocols and guidelines for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing medical equipment.
- Inspect and test equipment for any defects or malfunctions and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Assemble and disassemble complex medical instruments and equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of sterile supplies and equipment to ensure availability for patient care.
- Adhere to all infection control and safety procedures to prevent the spread of infections or diseases.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure proper handling and transportation of medical equipment and instruments.
- Keep accurate records of all sterilization processes and maintain proper documentation.
- Stay up-to-date on industry standards and regulations related to sterile processing and implement any necessary changes to ensure compliance.
- Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions to continually improve and enhance skills and knowledge.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare staff by responding to requests and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote a safe and efficient workflow.
- Assist in the training and supervision of new sterile processing technicians as needed.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to address any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Continuously strive to uphold the highest standards of quality and safety in all aspects of the job.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: Candidates For This Position Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent.
Sterile Processing Certification: A Valid Sterile Processing Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The Certification Board For Sterile Processing And Distribution (Cbspd) Or The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (Iahcsmm) Is Required.
Experience In Sterile Processing: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Sterile Processing Department, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.
Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques And Equipment: Candidates Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Sterilization Techniques And Equipment Used In Sterile Processing, Including Steam, Ethylene Oxide, And Hydrogen Peroxide Sterilizers.
Attention To Detail And Organizational Skills: The Role Of A Sterile Processing Technician Requires Meticulous Attention To Detail And Excellent Organizational Skills To Ensure All Equipment And Instruments Are Properly Sterilized And Maintained According To Industry Standards And Regulations.
