As a Phlebotomist and EKG Assistant, you will play a crucial role in our team by collecting blood samples and performing electrocardiogram (EKG) tests.   1. Perform blood draws and collect blood samples from patients according to established protocols and safety standards.
  2. Accurately label, process, and transport blood samples to the laboratory for testing.
  3. Conduct EKG tests on patients using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  4. Follow established procedures and protocols for obtaining and recording patient information, including medical history and test results.
  5. Maintain proper inventory and storage of supplies and equipment necessary for phlebotomy and EKG procedures.
  6. Adhere to infection control, safety, and privacy policies and procedures at all times.
  7. Interact with patients in a friendly, professional, and compassionate manner, providing necessary support and reassurance during procedures.
  8. Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, including nurses, physicians, and laboratory staff, to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  9. Keep accurate and detailed records of all phlebotomy and EKG procedures performed.
  10. Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and stay updated on industry standards and best practices.
  11. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to established cleaning and sterilization procedures.
  12. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
  13. Demonstrate a commitment to patient satisfaction and provide exceptional customer service.
  14. Adhere to all regulatory and compliance requirements, including HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of A Phlebotomy Or Medical Assistant Program: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Completed A Formal Training Program In Phlebotomy Or Medical Assisting, Which Includes Coursework And Hands-On Training In Venipuncture And Patient Care.

  • Certification As A Phlebotomist Or Medical Assistant: Allina Health System May Prefer Candidates Who Have Obtained A Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).

  • Experience With Ekg Procedures: The Job Requires The Candidate To Assist With Ekg Procedures, So Prior Experience In Performing And Interpreting Ekgs Is Highly Desirable.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Phlebotomist And Ekg Assistant, The Candidate Will Interact With Patients On A Daily Basis. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Necessary To Ensure Patient Comfort And Satisfaction.

  • Knowledge Of Basic Medical Terminology And Procedures: The Candidate Should Have A Good Understanding Of Medical Terminology, As Well As Basic Procedures And Protocols For Handling And Processing Blood Samples, Maintaining Equipment, And Following Safety Measures.
