
Pharmacy Technician Inpatient

- Collaborate with clinical pharmacists and nursing staff to ensure the safe and timely delivery of medications to inpatient units.
- Verify and prepare medication orders accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor medication inventory levels and assist with ordering and restocking as needed.
- Maintain patient profiles and accurately enter medication orders into the electronic health record.
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other team members regarding medication-related questions or issues.
- Perform medication reconciliation and identify and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper storage and handling of medications.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safe handling and administration of medications.
- Assist in training and mentoring new pharmacy technicians.
- Continuously update knowledge and skills through participation in training and educational opportunities.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Comply with all state and federal regulations and organizational policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive work culture.
Completion Of An Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program: Candidates For An Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Position At Allina Health System Must Have Completed An Accredited Program, Such As One Offered By A Community College Or Vocational School. This Ensures That They Have Received The Necessary Training And Education To Perform Their Job Duties Effectively.
Active Pharmacy Technician Certification: Allina Health System Requires That Their Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians Hold An Active Certification From Either The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (Ptcb) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha). This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Knowledge And Competence In The Field Of Pharmacy Technology.
Experience In An Inpatient Pharmacy Setting: Candidates Should Have Prior Experience Working In An Inpatient Pharmacy Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Long-Term Care Facility. This Experience Will Give Them A Better Understanding Of The Unique Challenges And Demands Of An Inpatient Pharmacy Environment.
Knowledge Of Pharmacy Laws And Regulations: Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians At Allina Health System Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of State And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Pharmacy Practice. This Includes Knowledge Of Controlled Substance Laws, Drug Storage And Handling Regulations, And Patient Confidentiality Laws.
Strong Communication And Customer Service Skills: Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians Must Have Excellent Communication Skills In Order To Effectively Communicate With Pharmacists, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Must Also Have Strong Customer Service Skills To Interact With Patients And Their Families, As Well As Handle Sensitive Situations With Empathy And Professionalism.
