Music Therapist

At Allina Health System, we are looking for an experienced and passionate Music Therapist to join our team. Our ideal candidate will be a dedicated professional with an enthusiasm for helping patients through the power of music.The Music Therapist will be responsible for providing music therapy services to patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of Allina Health System and the American Music Therapy Association. This individual must be able to provide a therapeutic environment that encourages the patient to interact positively with music.The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in music therapy or a related field and have certification as a music therapist from the Certification Board for Music Therapists. The ideal candidate should also have a minimum of two years of experience in music therapy and be organized, patient focused, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.At Allina Health System, we are committed to providing our patients with the best possible care. Responsibilities:

1. Provide music therapy services to patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of Allina Health System and the American Music Therapy Association.
2. Create and maintain a therapeutic environment that encourages the patient to interact positively with music.
3. Maintain patient records and documentation as required.
4. Maintain certification as a music therapist from the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
5. Utilize knowledge of music theory, instrumentation, and improvisation to design individualized music therapy plans.
6. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other healthcare professionals.
7. Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients.
8. Promote the use of music therapy as an effective treatment option.
9. Facilitate patient’s ability to reach their treatment goals.
10. Develop and implement creative music activities to engage patients and stimulate progress.
